The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has congratulated the President-elect, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President-elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress on their resounding victory in the just-concluded presidential and national assembly elections in Nigeria.
Fr. Alia, a prominent cleric in Nigeria and a vocal supporter of progressive governance, expressed his joy at the outcome of the election, which saw Tinubu defeat his main rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, by a wide margin.
Alia, in a statement released earlier today, said the victory affirmed the trust and confidence of the Nigerian people in the APC and its premium candidates.
The statement reads:
“I congratulate President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his historic victory in the presidential election; his victory is a clear mandate from the good people of Nigeria for a progressive change.”
“I share in the excitement and hope that this victory brings, and I am confident that under your visionary leadership, Nigeria will continue to thrive and progress towards becoming a more unified and transformed nation.”
Fr. Alia also praised the peaceful conduct of the election and the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free and fair process.
“I commend INEC for their professionalism and dedication to ensuring a transparent and credible election,” he said. “Their efforts have helped to strengthen our democracy and restore confidence in the electoral process.”
Fr. Alia urged Tinubu to work towards uniting the country and delivering on his campaign promises, particularly in the areas of security, corruption, employment, and the economy.
“I urge President-elect Tinubu to be a unifying figure and to work towards healing the divisions that have plagued our country,” he said. “He has a great responsibility to deliver on his promises to the Nigerian people, particularly in the areas of security, corruption, employment, and the economy. I am confident that he will rise to the occasion and lead our country towards a brighter future.”
In the same vein, Fr. Alia praised President Muhammadu Buhari for creating a conducive atmosphere for free, fair, and credible elections.
“I applaud President Buhari for his unwavering commitment to upholding the values of our party and for instilling a sense of confidence among its members. His remarkable statesmanship in creating a fair and unbiased platform for all contestants while maintaining the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a true testament to his leadership skills. We take great pride in his dedication to fostering a level playing field for all and ensuring that the democratic process remains intact.”
