The newly-elected Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has sent his greetings to Muslims around the world as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In a statement posted on his official social media handles, Fr. Alia spoke about the importance of the occasion for Muslims, and the significance of the end of Ramadan.
“This is a day of celebration, a day to rejoice and offer prayers of thanksgiving,” he said. “The end of Ramadan is a time of great spiritual renewal, a time to reflect on the blessings of Allah and to renew one’s commitment to the teachings of Islam.”

Fr. Alia also emphasized the importance of community and shared humanity, calling on all people to show compassion and kindness towards one another.
“In a world that often seems divided and fractured, the observance of Eid-el-Fitri reminds us of the unity that can be found in our shared humanity and our shared faith,” he said. “May the spirit of Eid-el-Fitri inspire us all to live our lives with generosity, compassion, and kindness towards one another.”
Fr. Alia’s message was warmly received by Muslims in Benue State and around the world, who appreciated the Governor-Elect’s recognition of the importance of their faith and traditions.
