The gubernatorial race in Benue State has taken a dramatic turn as Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is on course for a resounding victory in the 2023 gubernatorial elections, according to official results collated from 22 local government areas (LGAs).

Fr. Alia has secured an impressive 464,311 votes, placing him firmly in the lead ahead of his closest rival, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who has garnered 224,996 votes, while the Labour Party’s candidate, Rt. Hon. Herman Hembe, trails behind with 37,536 votes.

Fr. Alia’s campaign has been anchored on his track record of delivering quality public service and his commitment to transforming the state, which resonates well with the people of Benue State. Uba’s campaign, on the other hand, has been focused on promises of continuity from where his political godfather, Mr. Samuel Ortom, stops.

The margin of Fr. Alia’s lead stands at 239,315 votes, a clear indication that the APC candidate has won the confidence of the good people of Benue State.

The process has been peaceful and orderly so far, with the people of Benue displaying their commitment to democratic values.

We will continue to bring you updates as the final results are announced at 10 a.m.

It is worth noting that the electoral process is still ongoing and the final results from the remaining LGAs are yet to be announced.

Nonetheless, the current trend suggests that Fr. Alia of the APC is well on his way to a resounding victory in the gubernatorial race in Benue State.
